WHY!

I am literally brought to tears today because of religion. How disgusting it is to me! Why do those who call themselves Christians judge others around them? THEN, when they/we are confronted about it, keep doing it? What part of "LOVE your enemies and PRAY for those who persecute you" don't we understand?

Jesus came here to this earth to save sinners!! (1 Timothy 1:15)

Though we have been redeemed, we (us Christians) keep on sinning because we still live on this earth. (Romans 7:15) So why do we think we are SO much better than those who are not saved. Indeed, we have a promised gift of eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ. But when Jesus commanded us to "Go and make disciples of all nations" should that make us stick our head up high and live like we are so much better? Of course NOT! Christ Himself hung out with tax collectors and fishermen! Is that any different than the "skaters, goth, preppy, smart, nerdy, weird, emo kids" that there are today? Of course not. So why then, do some of them feel alone and judged by all? Is it their fault that we fail to minister to them and, simply, love them? Oh how my soul longs to just hold them and tell them that Jesus has a greater love for them than anyone or anything here on earth could even express!

Those of us who call ourselves Christians need to start living like it.

How much longer can we go on living our selfish lives with our money and our pride?

How much longer are we going to go on knowingly sinning?

How much longer are we going to watch these beloved creations from God feel unloved by the Children of God?

God IS love. We are supposed to love ALL. What does this love look like? Dear friends, you know like i do that love is Christ's life, death, and resurrection. Let us read, learn, and follow HIS most perfect example!

"When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, He will sit on His throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on His right and the goats on His left. Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed by My Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited Me in, I needed clothes and you clothed Me, I was sick and you looked after Me, I was in prison and you came to visit Me.' "Then the righteous will answer Him, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You something to drink? When did we see You a stranger and invite You in, or needing clothes and clothe You? When did we see You sick or in prison and go to visit You?' "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.' "Then He will say to those on His left, 'Depart from Me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave Me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave Me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite Me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe Me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after Me.' "They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help You?' "He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for Me.' "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life." ~Matthew 25:31-46

To people that hate Christians,
i am so very sorry that i have failed to display Christ's love to you. i am grieved by your perception of God due to the way that i haven't lived. is it too late to ask you to reconsider your decision against the Spirit? i hope that you may be able to understand the Cross even though i stand in the way of it's view.
with love,
hannah

  1. I so agree. My sin always gets in the way of people's view of the cross. There is a book by Jerry Bridges called Respectable Sins- it lists and explains sins that we Christians view as "not so bad"... there are so many blind spots in our lives.

When you hang with "sinners" (who isn't??), hopefully we will see whose hearts are softened toward the gospel, and be a light for them to see the Way.
